Port and Harbor Development, Fisheries

 

 

KANEV CORPORATION, BOSTON SHIPYARD WATERFRONT REDEVELOPMENT- for the Boston Shipyard Corporation Seareach-CMI conducted a market analysis and implementation plan for the residential redevelopment of the Boston Shipyard.

 

FIDELITY MANAGEMENT, MASSPORT AUTHORITY - WATER TRANSPORTATION PLAN   Seareach-CMI conducted a feasibility study of ferry terminal, hovercraft and dedicated water ferry passenger transportation, mixed-use facility for BOSCOM, Fidelity Management Real Estate Development Department.

 

PORT of PORTSMOUTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE, STATE of NEW HAMPSHIRE-  REDEVELOPMENT PLAN                                                                                                 Seareach-CMI together with Temple, Barker, Sloan/Mercer Management of Massachusetts investigated the feasibility of the redevelopment of the Port of Portsmouth, New Hampshire for cargo uses, the fishing industry and recreational boating for the Port of Portsmouth.

 

o HOOD YACHTS – MELVILLE, RHODE ISLAND

Seareach-CMI conducted a market analysis and feasibility study for Hood Yachts of their Melville, Rhode Island yachting manufacturing facility as a military base realignment study for the company. Included in this survey was an analysis of other yacht manufacturing and boating facilities in the Narragansett Bay area. This was for purposes of designing and locating the new Hood Yachts facility in the region.

 

o US STATE DEPARTMENT- BOUNDARY DISPUTE OVER GEORGE’s BANK FISHING GROUNDS                                                                                                                          Seareach-CMI was instrumental in the preparation of the Memorial and Counter-Memorial Arguments for the Boundary Dispute with Canada over George's Bank Fishing Grounds.

 

CONTINENTAL ORGANICS-  AQUAPONICS FEASIBILITY                                                   Continental Organics hired Seareach-CMI to investigate a site for expanding the Australis Company's Aquaculture facility in western Massachusetts, as an aquaponics operation in the growing of 2,000 MT/yr. of barramundi fish species and greens in a western Massachusetts location.

 

o PELICAN SEAFOOD- MARKETING PLAN                                                                          Pelican Seafood called on Seareach-CMI to determine a marketing strategy for Pelican Seafoods, a $ 55 million primary production facility for salmon, halibut, Dungeness crab, and king crab products from the Pacific northwest.

 

o NATIONAL MARINE FISHERIES SERVICE- SURVEY ON UNDERUTILIZED SPECIES USE IN FOODSERVICE INDUSTRY                                                                                          Mr. Campbell together with the National Fisheries Institute organized a nationwide survey effort to document the statistics and experience using underutilized finfish species in the US Foodservice Industry. Mr. Campbell presented findings to the National Restaurant Association annual convention.

 

o INDEPENDENT SEAFOOD PRODUCERS OF NEWFOUNDLAND AND CANADA-              Seareach-CMI served as a subsidiary of Seamark in the analysis of fresh and frozen seafood products into the Atlantic Northeast states. Seareach also analyzed the harvesting and processing capabilities of the Independent Fish Producers of Newfoundland and Labrador for the Seamark Corporation, to enter the US marketplace.

 

o JAIL ISLAND SALMON, NEW BRUNSWICK,CA-    SALE and MARKETING PLAN        Jail Island Salmon brought on Seareach-CMI to analyze the sale of its 1,000 metric tons/yr. in-water, cage Atlantic salmon aquaculture facility to an Atlantic seafood company.

 

o ISLAND METAL FABRICATORS/PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, CANADA- MARKET ANALYSIS   Seareach conducted a market analysis of the use of fish processing equipment and waterfront facility offloading equipment throughout the Atlantic coast to capitalize on the expansion of the North Atlantic fishery through the expansion related to the 200 Mile Limit.

 

 

 

Regional Planning, Economic Development

 

o EASTERN MAINE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, STATE of MAINE- REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR DOWN-EAST NAVY BASES                                              Seareach-CMI conducted a Feasibility Study and Implementation Plan for Redevelopment of Winter Harbor, Schoodic Point, Cutler Navy Bases with Maguire Group and ASZ Corporation.

 

o DELEGATION FROM CHENGDU CHINA, SICHUAN PROVINCE- SMART CITY          Seareach-CMI undertook a feasibility study of a mixed-use. SMART CITY development for housing, commercial office, high tech laboratory space, R&D labs, and retail for a technology development hub in the Chengdu Industrial Park.  

o DELEGATION FROM CHUNG BUC PROVINCE, SOUTH KOREA- SMART CITY        Together with the Chung Buc Province and a high-tech private developer and the Arthur D Little Company of Boston, Seareach-CMI jointly investigated the feasibility of developing a $ 1 billion Green Bio-Medical City and related facilities.

 

TOWN WALDOBORO, MAINE -   CULINARY ARTS FACILITY                                        Seareach-CMI conducted a market analysis, business plan through a series of interactive sessions with the Town residents and officials for the Redevelopment of the AD Gray School for purposes of creating a Culinary Arts Center for Mid Coast Maine and the community.

 

o STATE of MASSACHUSETTS, DEPARTMENT OF FOOD and AGRICULTURE, and CITY of BOSTON - BOSTON PUBLIC MARKET                                                                                    Seareach-CMI conducted a feasibility study, funding, and implementation plan for a Boston Public Market in downtown Boston. Seareach-CMI was able to achieve several foundation grants for interim funding of the Public Market for the Boston Public Market Board, that later led to the funding of the Public Market for $ 25 mllion, matching State funds with a private foundation.

 

o CITY of NEWBURYPORT, NEWBURYPORT-WATERFRONT REDEVELOPMENT PLAN  Seareach-CMI together with Kimball Chase Engineers prepared a redevelopment plan for the historic Newburyport waterfront area including a firehouse redevelopment in the waterfront area as a combined arts facility, bistro, performing arts center.

 

TOWN of MARBLEHEAD, MASS HARBOR MASTERPLAN                                              Together with the Kimbal Chase Engineers, Seareach-CMI conducted a series of public sessions around the preparation of a Masterplan for the redevelopment of Marblehead Harbor and its public facilities.

 

o TOWN of ROCKPORT, MASS- ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN –                                  Seareach-CMI together with Cape Ann Economics prepared through a series of public vision sessions, prepared a series of economic development recommendations for the Town of Rockport, Mass.

 

CITY LOS ANGELES AIRPORT AUTHORITY- PALMDALE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Mr. Campbell together with Arthur D Little Company prepared a Regional Development Plan for a secondary airport for the Los Angeles area as Palmdale International Airport to alleviate traffic and smog in the Los Angeles area. A feasibility study was also conducted to investigate a subway line to the airport through the San Gabriel mountains.

 

 

Water Resources Management, Natural Resource Planning

 

o COUNTY of SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA- INTEGRATED REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN-                                                                                                            Mr. Campbell served as interim project manager for the County of San Diego, $ 4 million Ford Foundation IREM Project to map the County’s natural resources; prepare protection and development plans; and to create an educational program on the Natural and Cultural Resources of San Diego County for the County’s Public Schools. This plan served as a later template for Proposition 91 for the protection of the State's coastal lands to the1,000 foot elevation.

 

COUNTY of SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – SAN ELIJO LAGOON RESTORATION

Mr. Campbell together with the County of San Diego planned the redevelopment and protection of San Elijo Lagoon. Mr. Campbell completed his Master’s thesis on 'The San Elijo Lagoon Restoration' from the University of Pennsylvania. On the basis of this effort, the County of San Diego raised over $ 50 million for lagoon restoration and opening to the Pacific Ocean.

 

o BUCKEYE PIPELINE FEASIBILITY STUDY AND IMPLEMENTATION/EIS PLAN-       

For the Buckeye Pipeline Company of New York – Mr. Campbell with Arthur D. Little & Co. and the US Army Corps of Engineers, prepared an Environmental Impact Assessment, Safety Study, Feasibility Study and Hazardous Waste Response Plan for a 275-mile pipeline from Raritan Bay, New York Harbor to Allentown, Pennsylvania.

 

o RESERVE MINING COMPANY- TAILINGS BASIN FEASIBILITY STUDY- Together with the Arthur D Little Company, Mr. Campbell prepared an Environmental Impact Study and Implementation Plan for constructing a $ 60 million tailings basin and disposal plan for 76,000 tons of taconite tailings/day, taking away disposal options of disposing into Lake Superior, to a tailings basin 7 miles upgrade of the Reserve Mining plant.

 

o DENVER COLORADO 201/208 WASTEWATER TREATMENT/WATER QUALITY MANAGEMENT PLAN                                                                                                              Together with Resource Planning Associates of Massachusetts and CH2M Hill Engineers, Mr. Campbell prepared a water quality management plan for the 4 county Denver Regional Council of Governments.

 

o USEPA IMPLEMENTATION PLAN for the ADOPOTION OF the CLEAN WATER ACT AMMENDMENTS of 1972                                                                                                        Together with Development Sciences of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Mr. Campbell prepared a series of recommendations on the implementation of the Clean Water Act Amendments of 1972 for the USEPA in the expenditure of $4.4 billion per year in meeting national water quality goals by 1980.
